A note on pitches and press inquiries
I’m grateful for the steady stream of ideas, research, and initiatives people share. That energy is vital to the public conversation about nature and climate.
One clarification: I don’t commission stories or make story-level decisions at Mongabay. We’ve built dedicated processes and infrastructure so the right editors can review submissions efficiently and fairly. To give your idea the best chance—and to protect our editorial independence—please use the newsroom’s channels below:
- News & story pitches: Pitching guidelines
- Commentaries & op-eds: Commentary submissions

- Jobs at Mongabay: Opportunities
To keep things fair and avoid bottlenecks, I don’t forward pitches, broker introductions, or offer editorial feedback. Story pitches sent to me directly may go unanswered, simply due to volume.
Also, I’m only involved in a small share of hiring decisions at Mongabay. I strongly recommend following any guidance associated with the opportunity presented on the website rather than reaching out to me directly about a job. I cannot due pre-interview calls with candidates.
Thank you for your understanding—and for the important work you’re doing.
