There are lives that remind us what it means to care. Some voices teach not through power but through presence, asking us to listen, to notice, to act. Tomorrow, the world will honor Jane Goodall, who did this better than almost anyone.
Her passing is a loss to us all. Yet the work she began continues in every young person planting a tree, every scientist watching the wild with wonder, every heart choosing compassion over cruelty, and every mind guided by empathy instead of greed.
The task is the same as she left it: to protect what remains, to nurture what can return, and to remember that seeing clearly is not the same as giving up.
The torch is ours now. Carry it gently, but do not let it go.
Jane’s U.S. memorial will be live-streamed tomorrow at 11am Eastern time via https://www.janegoodall.org/livestream
